DESCRIPTION:
EARLY MORNIN' RAIN as performed by Massachusetts singer song writer TOM ABDOW is one of those classic American folk songs of the 60's written by Gordon Lightfoot. The performance style of many folk music artists and songwriters begins with great folk music songs like this. Among the great folk singers and songwriters, Lightfoot's lyrics "Hear the mighty engines roar, see the silver wing on high, she's away and westward bound, far above the clouds she'll fly, where the mornin' rain don't fall, and the sun always shines, she'll be flying o'er my home, in about three hours time." really tell a great story. Tom Abdow has always loved playing this folk song and when playing, sometimes changes keys without warning. There are sometimes variations of chords like "D" or "G" with "Am7+9th" or "Low 'D' Tunings" Some listeners say WOW I'VE NEVER HEARD THAT ARRANGEMENT BEFORE but Abdow assures us that his arrangements are all based on either the way Lightfoot has played the song on different recordings or live in concerts with certain changes over the years, adapted to Abdow's own singing and playing style. "I would have liked to see more vocal microphone volume on this one," Abdow said,"but it was the first song out that evening and the audience seemed to like it anyway!" "In fact, that was one of the most receptive audiences I have ever seen on a late January night in New England. The concert was at Town Hall in Plainfield, MA. This song often comes to mind when I'm walkin' in the cold morning rain," he added. Hope you like it!
