DESCRIPTION:
"You'll Never Be the Sun" written by Irish songwriter Donagh Long in 1994 is from Trio II, the second collaboration album by three of the most successful American female singers of the 1970s and 1980s, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, released in January 1999 on the Asylum label. According to Emmylou Harris, she was asked to provide backup vocal on this song by singer Delores Keane during a tour of Ireland. Emmylou loved the song so much that she appropriated it for Trio II and sings the lead vocal. Musicians appearing on Trio II include David Grisman - mandolin; Alison Krauss - fiddle; Larry Atamanuik, Jim Keltner - drums; Carl Jackson, Dean Parks, Mark Casstevens - acoustic guitar; David Campbell - strings; Robby Buchanan - keyboards; Dennis James - glass armonica; Ben Keith - steel guitar; Leland Sklar, Edgar Meyer - bass; David Lindley - autoharp; and Roy Huskey Jr.- bass.
