The nostalgic video for "Goodbye" by Neverending White Lights explores the subconscious terrain of uncharted memories which live in the back of our minds. The idea of saying goodbye to the things we've lost, loved, wished for, or perhaps never even had has a tragic yet reflective feeling that wraps around us like a blanket. We don't always remember things the way they really were, instead we glorify them making them seem more dramatic and emotional when reaching back into our hindsight. The idea was to capture those memories floating around in our heads; the way we loved, the way we remember growing up, the way we think our parents were when they fell in love, the blurred line in which movies bleed into our subconscious and help us to put our own life stories together. Perhaps the past seems so beautiful because we don't always have complete and total emotion during the present, only once the moment begins to stretch further away does the concentration of it's significance overwhelm us.

Using rare archival footage, Daniel Victor in his co-directorial debut teamed up with the fascinating mind of director Grandson & Son to bring this song to life. Memory is not so brilliant as hope. But it is more beautiful.
