Forties' Female Vocalists 5: Nellie Lutcher - "The Lady's in Love With You" (1947) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 21, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Although not widely known today, R&B and jazz vocalist Nellie Lutcher was a popular singer from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Born October 15, 1912, she was the eldest daughter of 15 kids in the Lutcher Family. A talent scout from Capitol Records discovered her georgeous voice at a 1947 high school talent show also broadcasted on radio. Her first hit was "Hurry on Down", the flip side "The Lady's in Love with You". "Hurry on Down" got much more attention (reaching #2 in the R&B charts) and is still known today, but this hidden pearl immediately caught my heart. Hope you enjoy!
