The Story :
"After wired magazine published an article in late 06 from Roger Thomasson, an ex-intern describing his view of the Nerdcore (nerd rap scene), many people involved in the scene were pissed and felt completely misrepresented. MC Router immediately shot back with a letter and a song entitled "UNwired." After the dust settled, the song was a success even at the magazine itself, and a (heavily censored) copy of her letter was printed alongside an apology from the editors."


The article :
"Gangsta is dead. Grime is a bore. There's a new beat on the street and it's called Nerdcore. This geeky hip hop subgenre, also dubbed CS rap (that's computer science, yo!), is finally booting up with the release of Rhyme Torrents, a compilation featuring the work of more than 50 men -- and even a few ladies -- who bust rhymes (and C++ code). The collection is free online, so none of the artists make bank. Like all true playa MCs, they did it for the street cred. Of course, in the CS rap arena that means a Wikipedia entry, and you can't get one of those without an official album release."

I'm one of the "few ladies" you mentioned in your article about nerdcore (Play, "Me So Nerdy," issue 14.09). You ignored all of the females in this scene so you could discuss people like HAM-STAR -- a rapping hamster. You looked only at what these people had in the way of "nerd cred," and I guess being women makes us not nerdy enough to warrant inclusion."
