Poslan z nebes je angel na širni grešni svet
- An Angel is sent from heaven down to our sinful world
k Brezmadežni Devici tja v mesto Nazaret.
- to an immaculate Virgin in the town Nazareth.
Devici tej premili Marija je ime,
- Mary is the name of that most gentle Virgin
iz Davidove hiše je Jožef ženin nje.
- an Joseph from David's house is her husband.

K Mariji angel pride. Tako ji govori:
- An Angel has come to Mary saying to her
»Češčena si Marija vsa polna milosti.«
- »You are blessed, Mary, and grace is upon you.«
Marija se prestraši češčenja Božjega
- Mary is frightened by this holy adoration
in v srcu premišljuje besede angela.
- and thinks about Angel's words in her heart.

Mariji angel reče: »Nikar se ti ne boj,
- The Angel says to Mary: »Do not be afraid,
ker milost si dobila, Gospod je sam s teboj.«
- the grace of the Lord himself is upon you.
»Glej, Sina boš spočela od Svetega Duha,
- »See, you will conceive the Son of the Holy Spirit
boš srečna porodila rešitelja sveta.«
- and give birth to the Saviour of the World.«

Marija vsa ponižna na to odgovori:
- Mary answers very humbly to these words:
»Glej, volja naj Gospoda se nad menoj zgodi.«
- »Let the Lord's wish be upon me.«
Marija, Mati Božja, le prosi ti za nas,
- Mary, Mother of God, pray for us,
naj Božja milost z nami ostane slednji čas.
- and the Lord's grace be with us for ever.
