DESCRIPTION: Reading for the first time through my Saxophone Quartet (SATB): Nature's Wrath Upon Man.
PN: Nature’s Wrath Upon Man began as bassoon solo with tape. With failure to follow the guidelines of the collaboration, the collaboration fell through when the piece was finished. The piece was later rewritten for string quartet and then later adapted to saxophone quartet. The piece received its first reading from the OASIS Quartet (a prolific saxophone quartet) in February of 2016. The title is derived from the awareness of Global Warming and how society is slowly inflicting damage upon the planet. Throughout the piece, traces of thematic use of a simple motif is used to demonstrate recycling; high pitch wailing from the saxophones to reenact the pain of human screams; and the impending doom of the Dies Irae within the middle section of the work. Mother Nature will unleash her wrath thus destroying humanity if it means the survival of Earth.
