En el año 2006, la banda sube al escenario del Club Thelonious para grabar en sesión directa con presencia de público todas las composiciones que originarían, año siguiente, su primer disco: Contracuarteto. Dos meses después aparecen como el único número chileno en el Festival Providencia Jazz, demostrando la valía de un adelantado y representativo ensamble del nuevo jazz gestado desde el 2000. Contracuarteto usa este nombre para describir su trabajo de intervención en los esquemas jazzísticos tradicionales, desplegando juegos polifónicos desde los saxofones para crear un soporte armónico que contrarreste la ausencia de piano. Destaca en su música la potencia swing necesaria para una estilo moderno descrito como post-bop y construido con piezas originales que aportaron a un naciente "cancionero standard" hecho en Chile.

Patriarca de toda una familia de músicos, específicamente dedicados al jazz. Desde que en 1958 fuera invitado por el clarinetista Juan Sillano a tocar la tuba en el grupo tradicional Goodway Jazz Band, todo lo que había conocido desde niño en su casa (los discos de folclor, tango, bolero y swing, y una serie de instrumentos musicales disponibles) brotó en él naturalmente. Entonces se hizo contrabajista y antes de cerrar la década de 1960, Roberto Lecaros tocaba con los cuartetos de Miguel Sacaan y Omar Nahuel, los Santiago Stompers y además acompañaba al piano la bossa nova de Rita Góngora. En los 70 alternó como contrabajista en la big band dirigida por el clarinetista Luis Retamal e integró la fila de contrabajos de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile. Pero iba a ser a fines de esa década cuando Lecaros orientaría su nuevo rumbo como profesor de música popular y jazz. Su escuela fue la primera en formar jazzistas y su club L'Atelier fue la vitrina para mostrarlos. Entonces ya había integrado el violín al jazz (el primero de los instrumentos que estudió desde niño). En los 90 y 2000, Lecaros ha seguido encabezando jazztets como pianista.

In 2006 the band goes to the Thelonious Club, to record together with the audience all of their compositions, that would turn out to be their first album "Contracuarteto" Two months later they perform in the Festival Providencia Jazz ( Providencia Jazz Festival) showing the worth of an jazz ensemble that had been born in 2000. "Contracuarteto" uses this name to describe their work as an intervention on the traditional jazz structure, by creating polyphonic harmonies with their saxes. This fills the absence of the piano. Their music has a swing style, needed to create a modern style, known as post-bop and built with original pieces that contributed to a "standard songbook" made in Chile.

Patriarch of a family of musicians, dedicated to jazz . He was invited in 1958 by the clarinetist Juan Sillano to play the Tuba in the traditional Goodway Jazz Band. In the 70's he played the contrabass in the big band directed by the clarinetist Luis Retamal, and he was part of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile's contrabass players. It would me at the end of this decade when Lecaros would take a turn as a jazz and popular music teacher. His school was the first to form jazz players, and his club L'Atelier was a way to show them to the public. At that time, he had already integrated the violin to jazz.
