DESCRIPTION:
Meet the man behind the shades: SAM BLACK, a talented MC, hailing from the grimy streets of Jersey City, NJ. Sam Black also known as “Blizzy” survived the hustling, murder and corruption in the concrete jungles he called home, to graduate high school and obtain a full football scholarship to the University of Connecticut (UCONN). After suffering a broken jaw while practicing, “Blizzy” was forced to go back home to face society head on. He turned away from his college football career and began to nurture his other passion and obvious talent…rap.

Whether rhyming on the street corner or remixing popular songs for fun, he soon found that the art form he loved so dearly could possibly change his life.

Sam Black and a few of his “hood-mates” came together to form a group called Bralikk Animalz. The group created a huge buzz within the local neighborhoods; burning down all showcases and competitions and daring anyone to step up against them. In 2004, one of their members found themselves on the stage at ‘Hot 97’s Summer Jam’ reppin’ New Jersey in the NJ vs. NY freestyle battle. In 2005, the group destroyed a showcase winning a $10,000 video shoot paid for by Rocafella Records which was responsible for their first music video titled, “Girls.” In January 2006, the group won Murda Mami’s “Roc Da Mic Showcase” hosted by Power 105.1 DJ Envy winning a $1000 cash prize.

Internal and external struggles took over, however, just as the future seemed bright for the group. Two members of the group were arrested for outstanding warrants, two dropped out (one of whom went back to finish college). In spite of this, “Blizzy” demonstrated his perseverance and true leadership by carrying Bralikk on his back and reppin his “hood” as a solo artist. While doing so he witnessed great success dropping his first solo mixtape title, “Block Boss,” appeared on BET Rap City, “Spit Yo Game” segment and performed at Howard Homecoming Yardfest.

Unfortunately in May of 2008 Sam Black suffered an almost career/life suffering injury after being shot in the eye while sitting in his vehicle outside of his home. Two rival gangs began shooting at each other and “Blizzy” found himself caught in the crossfire. After a three year recovery “Blizzy” made a remarkable reclamation to his life and music. He has proven time after time and track after track that there’s not a flow he can’t spit or a beat he can’t jack. His remixes of Kanye West “The One” and Omarion “M.I.A.” are current fan favorites on Facebook.

Sam Black is undoubtedly a gifted performer. He has scores of dazzling anecdotes that the streets are already drooling over and are awaiting to be told to the world. Black is tireless as he races for victory refusing to fall short of his aspirations. He has been grindin’ for several years in search of an open door in the music industry. Black stays humble yet tenacious realizing the politics of the industry and believes without a doubt that he too will have his opportunity to share his story someday.
