DESCRIPTION: In 1939, Gustav Schröder captained a ship filled with German Jews for whom he sought refuge in Cuba and the USA. The boat was sent back to Europe, but he vowed he would wreck his ship on the coast of Britain rather than return to Germany. Hundreds found new homes thanks to that guy.
