PUBLISHED:  May 30, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The Del McCoury Band performs "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" at the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Fest in Nashville.

This is the first time IBMA's Fan Fest, which yearly features top bluegrass artists, has ever been recorded. This clip is from the new season of Jubilee, which features more than 40 performances and premieres Tuesday, June 4 at 8/7 p.m. on KET and Saturday, June 8 at 11/10 p.m. on KET2.

For the past 50 years, McCoury has been defining authenticity for hard-core bluegrass fans. He was influenced in the early 1950s by the music of Earl Scruggs to pick up a banjo, and he joined Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in 1963. In the early 1990s, he formed The Del McCoury Band with his sons, and they moved to Nashville. McCoury has influenced artists from Vince Gill and Alison Krauss to Phish and Steve Earle.
