DESCRIPTION:
Mixed by DJ Kam for Hip Hop Connection (R.I.P.)

Track listing and Joey Brains AKA Braintax's thoughts...
1. Rodney P - Doggist (Intro)
Our resident Low Life DJ Kam kicks off the mix cutting up over Rodney P's 'Doggist' beat which was made by Joe Buhdha who is fast shaping up to be one of the UK's top producers.

2. Mystro - Yeah!!
The party animal Mystro kicks things off with this mad funky track produced by Task Force's DJ Louis Slipperz. This was originally a beat on Louis's '£10 Bag Volume 1' but Mys took it further for this joint which features on his 'Music Mystro' EP and CD album.

3. Asaviour - Bangers & Mash
New Shit!!! An exclusive Asaviour track from his forthcoming album 'Borrowed Ladder'. See how we keep it real as fuck??! No-one sounds like Big Asav who represents the north to the fullest, go cop the album at the start of February.

4. Rodney P - The Future
The title track from Rodney's debut album, a kind of semi-autobiographical story with some much needed conscious lyrics. This was produced by Stone who's mad talented and also made 'It's Over' on the Skinnyman album.

5. Skinnyman - I'll Be Surprised
An outright banger! We didn't wanna do a CD of all the A-sides and obvious tracks but this get flung in there for the hell of it. This was released as the first single from 'Council Estate Of Mind' and is one of the biggest Low Life tunes ever!

6. Micall Parknsun - So What
A killer track and recent single from newcomer Micall Parknsun who appears on Low Life through a deal with his label Sit Tight. By the time you read this his debut album 'The Working Class Dad' will be out so go get it - it's easily one of the best UK albums of the last few years. 1Xtra and Channel U still fronted on this track but fuck 'em.

7. Jehst, J-Zone & Harry Love - Staircase To Stage
A one-off 12-inch we put out in 2002, this was limited at the time but still sells well now. J-Zone came over, hooked up with Harry who called up Jehst and a day later this got recorded at the old Low Life HQ in just a couple of hours.

8. Verb T - Sounds So Cool
A hidden gem in the Low Life catalogue this was on 2004's Verb T/Kashmere The Iguana Man double album. Produced by me (!) this is some funky arse shit and one of the best things i've ever done; Verbs kills it with his unique, laidback, clever style.

9. Kashmere The Iguana Man - Flight Of The Iguana
More Braintax production! Kashmere is a different kinda dude and this definitely comes across on this track, which is also from the Verb T collabo album. Weird synth sounds and some ill sound effects add to Kash's tales of weirdo space girl type madness.

10. Braintax - Gulliver
A Benny Live beat which means this is different, intricate and funky. I grabbed this to rhyme on for my track on the first Low Life compilation 'Food' which came out in 2003.

11. Rawdog Feat. Task Force & Braintax - Arrest The President
Another banger from Louis Slipperz, Elmore Judd and my man Otis all from the Rawdog camp. This was originally done for the '£10 Bag' CD series but when we decided to put it out on vinyl it needed extending so I wrote some political ish to round it off. Check the rest of 'Arrest...' EP for some more brilliantly innovative Rawdog/Task Force material.

12. Task Force - Fugs R Us
Man this tune was going through my head for about a year after I first heard it, then finally the Brothers McBain gave in and let me put it out, the B-side disappeared but still this track is one of the strongest Low Life releases. Heavy is the word.
