MOTH COMPLEX is the creation of Irish singer and songwriter, Aoife O'Leary (pronounced "EE'fa").
Defining a sound that combines bruising rock with pop sensibilities and off-kilter electronics, Moth Complex smoothly blurs the line between musical genres. Blaring guitars and catchy melodies layer seamlessly underneath Aoife's powerful, yet gentle voice.
Aoife began Moth Complex in her hometown of Dublin, Ireland in 2005 - joining creative forces with producer/writer Gerry Owens - and during those dynamic writing sessions MOTH COMPLEX was born.
Cut to 2011 and Moth Complex has gone international and is preparing to take the world by storm. Now based in the US, the breathtaking new Moth Complex single, "You Don't Know", is available for full band gameplay on Rock Band Network - and is just one sample of the prolific music featured on Moth Complex's forthcoming full-length self-titled debut album.
The past several years have been a whirlwind of hard work, hustle, and accomplishment for Moth Complex. Beginning with a multitude of tours spanning Ireland, the UK, and Germany, Moth Complex released the Error 256 EP to widespread critical acclaim. All the songs were featured in the US web-series Inspector Mom and "Non-Fiction" made an appearance on Suicide Girls.com.
The compelling music video for "Tied Up In Knots" garnered even more attention for Moth Complex, generating extensive international TV, radio and press exposure, and Moth Complex was featured as "Best Unsigned Band" in major genre-based European magazines, including Metal Hammer in the UK and Gothic Magazine in Germany.
After winning a national competition in Ireland's biggest music magazine, Hot Press, Moth Complex was selected to have NYU's prestigious Tisch School of Arts create, produce, and shoot a music video for "Learned My Lesson".
Building on the success of Error 256, Moth Complex secured official partnerships with prominent companies such as Jagermeister Music, Kramer Guitars, Amp Energy and more and have had songs featured on UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) on Spike TV. Moth Complex also shared the stage with powerhouse bands such as 30 Seconds To Mars and Lacuna Coil.
Moth Complex has generated all this recognition from only one four-song EP. Imagine the accolades to come with the debut of the band's first album, slated to drop in Fall 2011. In conjunction with the release, Moth Complex will be unleashing a video for "You Don't Know", partaking in extensive touring, and just generally working on ways to make life better for music lovers everywhere.
