DESCRIPTION:
Space Relaxation Background Music Sounds for Relaxing Deep Sleep with a Virtual Astronaut Floating in Space. Please play this video with a lower volume setting. This track entitled “Organic Meditations Three” from composer and arranger Kevin MacLeod uses piano and strings to create a cosmic effect with some musical elements reminiscent of Also sprach Zarathustra the tone poem composed by Richard Strauss and used in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The benefits of music as a healing therapy go back as far as the early Greek and Egyptian societies. Indeed, Apollo is the ancient Greek god of music and of medicine. As early as 400 B.C., the famous Greek physician, Hippocrates played music for mental patients. Robert Burton (1577 – 1640) wrote in the 17th century in his classic work, The Anatomy of Melancholy, that both music and dance were invaluable in treating mental illness, especially melancholia. In more modern times music therapy was developed by the US Army, to aid the recuperation of military service members in Army hospitals. Music has been seen as a powerful aid to recovery for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) as experienced in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Modern Music therapy comes in two different models - Active and Receptive. Our video music tracks follow the receptive model and combine a relaxing music track, intertwined with soothing images. The image in this video shows an astronaut floating in space - elements of this image were kindly furnished by NASA. Image supplied by http://www.canstockphoto.com The video was edited by Vuetunes.
