Opening with a mournful drone reminiscent of a distant ancient Cessna aircraft, heard through an abandoned industrial pipe, then an insistent finger bell motif overlying a melancholic sub bass is soon introduced. It is with the sparse yet hypnotic darbuka that 'Khamsin' really kicks off - heading towards a dancefloor (or a moonlit, puddle-strewn deserted warehouse floor...). This is music for those of a dark, rhythmic and industrial persuasion. Whispered ghostly snatches of dialogue pepper this aural odyssey, appealing to those entranced with Sam Shackleton's recent Berlin-based excursions.
