Edward Neeman plays Coruscations by Richard Meale - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 24, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
One of the masterpieces of the Australian modernist movement, Meale's Coruscations is reminiscent of Luciano Berio in its treatment of pitch and gesture. At the same time, there is a distinctly Australian flavor, as Meale translates the vast, bare Australian landscape, the dry heat, the raucous birdcalls and bush noises to the piano in a virtuosic display. The word coruscations can refer to both flashes of blinding light and flashes of brilliant virtuosity.

Recorded at Yamaha Artist Studios, New York on May 13, 2009
