'' Drop in the Bucket'' by Mitch Barrett - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 20, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
''One of a kind'' is a good phrase to describe Mitch Barrett because ya can't put his music in a category. He's been called an Appalachianfunkyrastafolksybluesman, but for now let's just say that he is a singer songwriter with some Kentucky thrown in for good measure. Mitch is a true lyrical storyteller and a son of the mountains whose music is drawn from his Appalachian heritage.

Mitch has won many songwriting competitions, most recently the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival, Merlefest Chris Austin Songwriting Competition (twice), Kerrville NewFolk Competition, and in June 2009 he was awarded the title of ''Telluride Troubadour'' at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

During his 30-year career, Mitch has played many festivals and concert halls from coast to coast, including The Freight & Salvage, The Birchmere, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, Merlefest, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He has performed with Mark Schatz, Si Kahn, Dirk Powell and Greg Martin. He has shared the stage with Arlo Guthrie, Steve Forbert, Darrell Scott, John Prine, Richie Havens, Tom Paxton, Dar Williams, Tim O'Brian, Sam Bush, Dave Mallett and Doc Watson.

Mitch is accompanied on upright bass by Kentucky native, Owen Reynolds. Owen has played the upright bass since 1998 in a variety of bands from traditional to rock and funk to Latin and jazz. He studied music at the University of Tennessee and has been performing professionally for 15 years.
