Miguel Timoteo Gurule was born and raised in Alcalde, NM. Miguel started singing at the age of 6 when his father asked him to sing with him while practicing with an acoustic guitar at home. Miguel’s father played with a few Northern New Mexican bands, so rancheras and cumbias were nothing to new to the youngster. Miguel was raised in a musical environment, and dreamed of someday recording his own New Mexico music. Miguel started recording his debut album “El Primero” in December 2005 at Chavez Recording Studio with Steve Chavez as the engineer. “El Primero” was released in May 2006 and quickly sky-rocketed in sales and on the charts. Miguel was also nominated for several awards at both the NMHEA & NMHMA award shows- which included a nomination for Rising Star of the Year, & Album of the Year. Miguel has also been featured on KANW’s The Gold Series 2007 “El Nuevo Sonido” compilation CD.

Miguel Timoteo released his second album “Inolvidable Amor” in August 2007. This CD featured his full 6-piece band Suavidad. This album obtained over 14 nominations from both the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association and the New Mexico Hispano Music association award shows. Miguel Timoteo was named the 2007 Upcoming Artist of the Year. Miguel Timoteo y Suavidad also won Cumbia, Salsa, Tropical Song of the Year with "Piensa En Mi". Miguel Timoteo was selected as the NMHEA/ KANW People's Male Vocalist of the Year, "Inolvidable Amor" was selected as the People's Choice Song of the Year and Suavidad was selected as the People's Choice Band of the Year at the NMHEA Award Show on November 10, 2007.

Miguel Timoteo y Suavidad have recently released their third full-length CD "Soy Como Soy" recorded at Bugzhut Records with Mike "Miguel Antonio" Martinez as the producer and engineer. This CD has obtained massive radio airplay throughout New Mexico and Colorado. This CD obtained 5 nominations from the New Mexico Hispano Music Association. Miguel Timoteo and Miguel Antonio were selected for the 2008 Vocal Duo of the Year with "Fijate Mama". Miguel was also selected for the third consecutive time as the 2008 KANW People's Choice Male Vocalist of the Year by the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association. This was Miguel's 30th nomination, and 8th award win from the NMHEA and NMHMA award associations.

Miguel has recently started a new CD in San Antonio, TX & Albuquerque, NM. This CD is scheduled for release mid 2010 and will be Miguel's 4th full-length recording.

Miguel Timoteo continues to play his music throughout the Southwest with his band Suavidad. Miguel’s father is the lead guitarist and continues to be Miguel’s inspiration and encouragement in music. Miguel Timoteo y Suavidad continue to perform and attract record amounts of people at venues throughout the Southwest.
