When asked to describe himself in

just one word, Sayo Martin Babatunde said simply and without hesitation; “mighty”.



“Because God made me in his image.

To me, He is the Almighty. I’m made in His image but I am not Him, I’m not

Almighty. However, through Him I am ‘Mighty’…in all aspects of life. Hence, the

name”



Described by many as “a new

breed”, Mighty’s unique music style captures and captivates the attention of

his audience.



“I used to think that during a

performance, that if people did not shout and scream then they were not

enjoying my piece. However, now I have come to realize that when I perform,

people actually sit and truly listen to what I have to say. I prefer people to

listen to my lyrics and gain something from it than people just being on a

hype”



Described by some as a very

fruitful role model for youths, Mighty believes that through music he can

change people’s lives for the better. Along with his strong Christian values,

Mighty makes sure he is a man of his word and delivers relevant messages with

an amazing level of lyrical technicality and diversity. “He’s one of those

artists you listen to and understand what’s he saying straight away but then

listen to the same lyrics months later and find something new woven into the

lyric you’ve heard before. He brings out a lot of character through his music.

believes in every lyric he writes, there is more to Mighty than meets the eye.



Where is he coming

from?



 



Hailing from the streets of East London, Mighty is a young artist who has seen and experienced first hand the hardships

life bring. For a boy who has experienced the hardships of London and both

learnt the tough traditions and deeply rooted values of the motherland in his

time spent there, it is not surprising that he has little to say about himself

but much more to say about his lifestyle and music. He infuses within his music

his past experiences allowing people to relate to what he has to say.



 



He describes himself as a delivery

boy, bringing to people the mental and Spiritual nutrients they need for

reaching their God intended potential. Unlike most artists who seem to be spending

time and energy promoting the problems we face Mighty has made a decision to

focus more on the solutions to the problems, the solution he says from his

experiences in life is God.



 



Mighty is a role model to the

youth. At 21, he knows the true value of education. He is currently completing

a law degree and hopes to further himself in education in order to enhance his

skills and reach his potential.



 



His approach to music is one of

honesty; not ready to conform but able to relate to his audience.



 



Achievements

In 2007 Mighty featured on the MOBO award

winning Album from G Force ‘Destroy and Rebuild’. He also won the Star Awards and

the Sony BMG talent competition, as well as being hand-picked for Choice fm’s

Fresh Blood event in 2008. He’s shared stages with big names within the music

industry including Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Shekinah Glory, Four Korners and

2009’s MOBO Award winner Jahaziel



 



What's next

for Mighty?



2009, Mighty is determined to show

the world that he is a force to be reckoned with. He is working hard on

upcoming project “Food for the Thought” which is expected to be released this

summer. His new single “Go Harder” from the “Food for the Thought” album is

lined up for general release soon.
