Mesh Mini-Koto Playable (slm0033) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 03, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
This is a dutifully reproduced model of a musical instrument that I personally own and love. A 13 string Mini-Koto. The Koto is a traditional Japanese zither played by the aristocracy in ancient Japan; and more recently by many contemporary artists.

A full sized Koto is approximately 6 feet long, not exactly the most portable of instruments; hence the necessity of a miniaturized version.

The item is fully scripted so that you can actually play it (just like the real thing) and create music in-world. It is tuned in the popular Nogijoshi tuning, which is traditionally used in many Japanese folk songs.

Thanks to the latest mesh technology the land impact is only 17 prims; so even if you just intend to leave it laying on the coffee table it won't take up much in terms of resources.

The design and texturing is absolutely Photorealistic (although due to limits imposed by Linden Lab I was forced to down-sample the texture map from 2048 x 2048 to 1024 x 1024 pixels), the modeling was performed with millimeter level accuracy; you simply won't find a better looking Koto in Second Life.
