Flatpicking/jazz idea - Joe Pass lines (lesson) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 10, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
In this video I continue with my series on increasing your vocabulary for improvising over chord changes.

These lines are very influenced by the style of Joe Pass. I have moved them to the key of C and put them into a flatpicking open position.

I am assuming you have a strong foundation of playing fiddle tunes and improvising swing standards.

These ideas are meant to get you thinking creatively and possibly pushing beyond your stock phrases.

You must of course transpose this to all your favorite keys and try this phrase in as many songs and in as many situations in which major and minor chords show up.

Please leave comments and suggestions.

I often make videos like this for my friends and they have encouraged me to put these ideas on YouTube.
