Michael Shipp w/ Billy Bob Thornton - Bring It On

Roosterboy Mike Shipp is a musician's musician. The Big Daddy has toured with, and co-produced music with old Arkansas pal, Billy Bob Thornton for many years. The Roosterboy has also worked with ZZ Top, the late Johnny Cash, and a host of other artist, both onstage and in the studio. Shipp's highly touted "Adventures of Roosterboy" CD from 2004 has sold in 16 countries worldwide, pretty good for an indie release. Billy Gibbons, who helped produce the guitar tones, called it a 'treasure chest of tone'. Shipp's raspy vocals always draw comparisons ranging from Tom Waits to Mark Knopfler. Adventures of Roosterboy included all original tunes written by Shipp, and a couple co-written with Thornton. Last year, Shipp and Thornton co-produced a new project at Thornton's LA studio, The Cave, (formerly owned by Slash) and they hope to release it sometime in 2010. This rocking Delta trip includes Thornton on drums and backing vocals, and some heavyweight guest artist including Pat Travers, Ricky Medlock, Slash, Dusty Hill from ZZ Top and former Allman Bro Les Dudek. Shipp brings a high energy power trio to the live stage and has been known to play the blues til sun-up. Old pal Thornton deemed Roosterboy's music as a lightening bolt out of Texas thundering through the Louisiana swamps, up highway 61 and ending up sleeping on a park bench in downtown Memphis.
