Mert Alkaya

Born on the 17th of August in Istanbul . Started to play drums at the age of 15. He played with the popular rock band 'Badluck' when he was 17 in 1993. In 1996 he played with 'Işığın Yansıması' and released the album 'Birdenbire' which was awarded the best third rock album of the year by the Cumhuriyet Newspaper. He toured in France in 1998 with the band called ALIS, a union of French and Turkish musicians. In 2002 he released the 'ASK' album with the band called MISTER NO. Started to play with Feridun Düzağaç and performed in the album 'Orjinal Altyazili' which was a major top selling CD with 200 soldout shows made all around Turkey. After 2 years a live recording called 'Uzun Uzun Feridun Düzağaç' was recorded with a small string orchestra. He had a long time membership of the FD's band as seen on the last 5 albums. After the release of Aylin Aslım's "Gulyabani " album in 2005 he also started playing with her starting with "Fanta Youth Festival" tour . He works with the guitar virtuoso Cem Koksal in his projects. Recorded the new Album "Vigilante Episode One" featuring Mats Leven (ex-Therion ex- Malmsteen) on the vocals. Also Released his own band YAYA's Debut Album "Bay A'nın Hikayesi" in April 2011 with the label Soulfulworks EMI. Alkaya proudly endorses Sonor Drums and Anatolian Cymbals.
