"Mefiboseth" / "Mephibosheth" was the grandson of King Saul (see 2 Samuel). He became crippled when he was young. However when he got older, King David gave him property and let him eat at the king's table. The band chose this name to show that "we may not have it all, and some more than others . . . but God is wonderful because He is our 'goel', that is, our Redeemer, like King David did for Mephibosheth."
