An artist worried about keeping the black culture alive, Mauricio Tizumba started his career thirty-three years ago. Concentrating on the religious traditions of African origin in Minas Gerais dating back to the first decades after slaves arrived to this country, he has been an outstanding proponent of afro-influence in arts.

Musician, singer, actor, and a composer, Tizumba is one of the most popular and complete artists with a peculiar humorous style that is capable of establishing a synergic interaction between the crowd and the artist. He has an amazing charisma, which always grabs the audience's attention. Skilled with a very peculiar technique and always original in everything he does, he is still able, even with his multi-faceted art, to remain conscious and consistent to his beliefs.
