Astro nascente della scena jazz americana, Champian Fulton è una giovane pianista e cantante che brilla per talento e maturità artistica. Iniziata alla musica a 5 anni dalla nonna e sostenuta nella sua passione dalla famiglia e dal suo entourage (ad incoraggiarla anche Major Holley e Clark Terry, entrambi amici del padre trombettista), la giovane Fulton inizia a suonare ai festival negli anni del liceo, prima di diplomarsi al conservatorio nel 2006 e affermarsi sulla scena musicale di New York, dove ha l'opportunità di calcare i palcoscenici più importanti (Birdland, Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, ecc) al fianco di maestri del jazz come Jimmy Cobb, Frank Wess, Lou Donaldson e Louis Hayes. Tra i suoi mentori c'è Jon Faddis, asso della tromba, che a JazzAscona 2012 suonerà con la Stanford University Jazz Orchestra. Artista da non perdere, la Fulton debutterà al festival con il suo trio, che vede il leggendario Fukushi Tainaka alla batteria e Mathias Allamane al basso.


Rising star of the American jazz scene, Champian Fulton is a young pianist and vocalist who shines through her talent and artistic maturity. Fulton's gift was recognized at an early age and the young artist was supported by her family and entourage from the beginning (she was also encouraged by her father's musician friends, Major Holley and Clark Terry). As a high school student she began performing at festivals, later in 2006 she graduated from the conservatory and started making her name on the New York music scene, where she performed on the world's most prestigious stages (among others at the Birdland, Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, etc) alongside jazz masters such as Jimmy Cobb, Frank Wess, Lou Donaldson e Louis Hayes. Among her many mentors, Jon Faddis, trumpet virtuoso, who performs at JazzAscona 2012 together with the Stanford University Jazz Orchestra.
