Chick and drum-master Steve Gadd have a long and storied history. Making some of the greatest records of all times in '70s — starting with "The Leprechaun" and going through the jazz masterpiece "Three Quartets." The problem of this week was how to pick a songlist, with such a rich repertoire of possibilities. The first two nights featured the music from "Three Quartets" and a line-up that included Chick, Steve Gadd, upright bass legend Eddie Gomez and, paying honor to the late great saxophonist Michael Brecker (who was on the original album), was 23-year-old tenor saxophonist, Ben Solomon. You’re guaranteed to be hearing more about this young man — he tore it up. And the veterans played with a fire that defied the illusion of time. The latter half of the week was devoted to music from the classic recordings of "The Leprechaun," "The Mad Hatter" and more … joining Chick, Steve and Eddie were veterans of Chick's Origin band, Steve Davis on trombone, Steve Wilson on saxophone, plus the great Michael Rodriguez on trumpet. With a special guest appearance by Chick’s soulmate and angelic singer from the original recordings, Gayle Moran Corea. Another sold-out week of unforgettable music.
