DESCRIPTION:
Tired of cold digital sounds? Warm up Massive by adding some analog character and learn how to make Massive sound like a Mini Moog in just a few minutes.

The Mini Moog is known for creating some of the beefiest, thickest and richest sounds (especially basses) ever. Massive is also known for being able to create huge bass sounds as well. To make Massive sound like a Mini Moog you just have to keep a few principles in mind and thankfully, they are pretty simple.

First, the original Mini Moog could only play one note at a time (it was monophonic) so when you are trying to recreate a sound form it, keep that in mind. Second, you don't want to get too crazy with your filter cut off types because the original Mini Moog didn't have a wide array of filter types. Third, to make Massive sound like a Mini Moog you need to consider the analog factor.

The analog factor is just a word I use to help me get in the right head space when I am trying to make a vintage sound. The Mini Moog was all analog. Any time you have an all analog current and circuit path you are bound to get some fluctuation and randomness in the sound. To make Massive sound like a Mini Moog you have to introduce the randomness using modulators and macros. Using an LFO to lightly modulate the cut off or the wavetable position can really help introduce that analog warmth. Remember those three ideas when you are trying to make Massive sound like a Mini Moog.
