MarthaV vive e respira um universo denso e anormalizado, comparando-se à realidade da música pop-rock atual, careta e cheia de clichês que é produzida para agradar aos mais bobos.
O rockn roll sempre foi Clube do Bolinha mesmo e, para um novo artista, neste caso uma mulher que compõe e canta chegar e entrar nesse clubinho, tem mesmo é que pisar forte e firme.
MarthaV, além de programar loops, conceber os arranjos e gravar em casa os vários detalhes musicais e sonoridades estranhas e diferenciadas deste cd, na faixa "Indecisão", mostra suas qualidades vocais indo da sutileza da voz quase sussurrada ao gás aberto nos refrões da canção. MarthaV tem DNA próprio e suas composições são bem particulares nas letras e melodias que propõe ao longo de seu álbum de estréia. Ela colabora também com a concepção da capa do álbum que mostra uma boneca meio Blade Runner, meio de louça, com uma fechadura atrás do pescoço, que precisa ser aberta pelo ouvinte com uma chave imaginária para que mergulhe e penetre em seu mundo tão particular.
Percebo neste trabalho alguma influência forte da cantora, parceira e amiga Mariana Davies, que toca guitarra, violão e teclados em várias faixas em que participa no cd, além de arranjos até de bateria e trompete.
O rock sempre gritou por renovação e as mulheres têm um mundo singular para nos mostrar e por nós ser decifrado. Às vezes o medo ingênuo de menina, às vezes a fúria de um velho dragão na mesma voz e boca que te beija e convida a valsa, e que, em seguida, cospe fogo e bate a porta na tua cara sem culpa, nem educação.
Este recado sonoro sai por um selo independente, a T-Rec, que tem mais uma oportunidade de apostar no novo e ajudar a fazer um futuro mais pródigo e fértil para a música deste, ainda novo, século XXI.

MarthaV stands for Martha Vasconcellos, who lives and breathes a dense and unusual universe if compared to the current pop-rock music scene which is lame and built up to please the foolish ones. Rock and Roll has always been a man's thing and for a new artist to join in that club, especially a woman that sings and writes music, a lot of attitude is required.
Her work goes beyond programming loops, conceiving arrangements and recording at her home studio the many details and odd sound textures of which this album is composed of. The track "Indecisão" shows precisely her vocal qualities that go from an almost whispered gentle voice to a loud and firmly projected voice during the chorus. MarthaV puts her own DNA in her songs and her music is very peculiar in the way she plays with lyrics and melodies in this debut album.
She also collaborates with the conception of the front cover art, which shows sort of a "Blade Runner" doll, part porcelain, with a keyhole behind her neck that needs to be opened up by the listener with an imaginary key before entering and diving into her so peculiar world.
I notice a strong influence of the songwriter, singer, partner and friend Mariana Davies, who plays the electric and acoustic guitar and also the keyboard for some of the songs in the album. She is the arranger for some of the drum sequences and trumpets too.
Rock always yells for renewal and women have a singular world to show us, for us to decipher. Sometimes they show us the naïve young girl's fears. Sometimes it is the fury of an old dragon and it's the very same mouth that kisses you and invites you for a dance, and right after breathes fire and slams the door shut in your face with no guilt or politeness.
This sound message is out by an independent label called T-Rec that has once more put a bet on talented new artists, in this case MarthaV, creating strong hopes for a more prodigal and fertile future for the Brazilian musical industry in this newly turned 21st Century.

* Guto Goffi has been the drummer for Barão Vermelho, a famous Brazilian rock band from the 80's, from the very beginning. That band is still a big hit in Brazilian territory, especially because Cazuza was their first singer. Together they produced big hits, such as "Bete Balanço", "Down em mim", "Codinome beija-flor", "O tempo não pára", "Pro dia nascer feliz", etc.
