Mark Wingfield

Mark's diverse influences and focused approach make his playing both original and distinctive. Melodic and often rhythmically playful, his guitar solos weave emotional stories through the music. As a composer Mark embodies a unique mixture of influences and backgrounds. He has toured extensively across Europe and as far afield as Istanbul with his own group as well as with other jazz groups such as Scapetrace and SMQ.
Mark's interest in world music has led him to collaborate with non-western musicians such as Lebanese singer Samia Afra, Turkish musician Gökhan Özyavuz, Zambian singer KT Lumpa and others.
As well as jazz, his composing extends into classical forms, his pieces being performed by top classical musicians in NY, London and elsewhere.
Mark has also composed string quartets, works for wind and keyboards, piano and harpsichord. His compositions were the subject of a lecture at Goldsmiths College London to mark the opening of its new Contemporary Music Department and featured in a composition lectures and workshops at The Royal College of Music London, Dartington College of Arts music department and Trinity College of Music London.
