Who would have believed that Auburn, a sleepy little college town in Alabama would be haven to a bunch of the most whacked-out, rockin, punk lovin, mutant surf aliens in the whole damn universe. Havin' crash landed there sometime in the late eighties these twisted creatures took on the form of human degenerates, surviving on a diet of raw trash and dangerous rock n roll. Over time they systematically ingested the works of the great and the garage damaged - Link Wray, Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, The Spotniks, The Ventures and countless more outlaw icons of the fifties and sixties underground.

Man or Astro-man? true pioneers in the world of experimental surf-punk and far-out rock n roll. Along with their peers, Shadowy Men On a Shadowy Planet, The Mummies, The Monomen etc, they have shunned the lyric in favour of instrumentation that often verges on the absurd. Genius' or lunatics, they have been prolific both as live performers, composers and recording artists, playing to faithful and enthusiastic audiences the world over and even supplying tunes for the odd movie (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron anybody?).

This film, taken from the Barn End archive, features Man or Astro-man? performing in Edinburgh during 1994 - where they treated Scotland's Capital City to possibly the most bizarre and entertaining night in it's long and crazy history. Beam me up there baby!
