Co-director’s note / Artist statement - Cata.Pirata:
Mami Wata - the serpent goddess of the waters - has, living amongst us, thousands of sons and daughters. The vast oceans in which she bathes are made up of both sorrowful tears as well as rejuvenating waves. She is a nurturing mother, a seductive mami, a healer of the broken spirit, and the embodiment of internal strength, dreams, and desires. Mami Wata guides those far from home back to the motherland, where they shall reign in Spirit as kings and queens.

The video was shot while Cata.Pirata was eight months pregnant, in order to give thanks to Mami Wata for her gift of fertility and to guide in the healthy birth of Baby Wata.
