The Rise of the Black Messiah (Live) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 20, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Amy plays a song she wrote to honor the great civil rights activist, one of the Angola 3, Herman Wallace. Wallace died on October 4, 2013, just three days after being released from prison. After decades of cruel conditions and a conviction that continues to be challenged by the courts, Wallace 71 years old was given a compassionate release from prison due to his advanced liver cancer.

This song was also inspired by the murder of Trayvon Martin and a book by Michelle Alexander called, "The New Jim Crow."

This performance with Jeff Fielder was at the Wachusett Valley Music Festival on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
