Akûma - "Torres De Silencio" Magnetic Eye Records - A BlankTV Premiere!

Artist Biography: It's been three years and a half of hard work, a constant struggle against our geographical limitations, being a band from Mexico its not easy and being a band from Morelia its even harder; for those who don't know, Morelia it's a city with a lot of economic problems, violence seems to be always at the turn of the corner, here doesn't exist a musical scene, no venues and most of the people just don't care about local bands. But with all that, Akûma is a very lucky band, we've got signed on January of 2012 on Magnetic Eye Records, and we have been playing a lot outside of our city, we're part of a Mexican colective of bands called Los Grises, whose only focus is to promote all the work from bands on the DIY scene.

The writing process of this new record took us a year, we're a band with members from 19 to 25 years, we're still on school and as the music is important for us, school is still a matter that takes a lot from our time. When we started writing the record Akûma were a trio, only Valdemar, Fabrizio and me (Omar) were in the band; since the early days of the band we tried to find someone whose interest in life and music were the same as ours but most of the bass players on the city were busy or they just don't care about the sounds we like. We know Rigo from his previous band and he started listening to Akûma at some shows and that called his attention, he joined us on October of 2012.

After months of the writing process then it came the moment to decide where to record that album, we asked ourselves, where do we want to go? What sound do we want to project? What do we need to achieve that goal? We decided to go to Testa Studio on Leon, Guanajuato; which is a city at three hours from Morelia. Testa Studio allowed us to record on live sessions and on analog format, before we hit the Studio we submitted ourselves to a hard rehearsal regime so we wouldn't lose time on the studio and to achieve a peak on our expertise as musicians and as a band.
As soon as we arrive to Testa we knew that was the perfect choice, KB the engineer is a great person, with great skills and a commitment to the music he is recording; there, also, we meet with Ryan, who was our engineer asistant and helped us a lot with technical aspects of the recording process.
The recording took us 3 days, the first day we recorded nine songs in a session of twelve hours, the second day we recorded the four remaining songs (11 went to the album and we did 2 more songs as bonus) that same day we recorded all acoustic guitars and on the third day we recorded vocals, keys and synths; on the forth day we did all the mix. It was a hard process, but it was way worth it!

Right now we are waiting for the album release on September 24th and we want to play on every city and gig we can, we want to spread the word and take our show to every place we can. We are a band with a passion to play live, we want to continue putting a statement of how loud we can play when we do it live!
