It's been a long day at life. The night settles in and you are ready to dance so hard you
might accidentally punch someone in the back of the head. What sort of groove-induced
fury of music goes in to your tumbler?? Start with a shot of head-nodder hip-hop, a
gracious two count of dub step, and a strong squeeze of eighties dance and electro, a
jigger of breaks, a heaping spoonfulla French club rap. All of this comes together to make
Siren: Maggie Horn.
Maggie's tracks have been drawing attention left and right -- from the ravers, club kids,
and backpackers, to the streetwear whores, hipsters and bboys. It's that intoxicating
combination of music and attitude that has made heads from NY to LA take notice. and
then make them shake / stir / get crunk on the rocks.
Working with such talented and prolific producers such as Baltimore Club Godfather,
DJ Scottie B (Unruly Records), Blaqstarr (Mad Decent), Curses! (Institubes) and
Teenwolf (Ninjasonik), Maggie has generated quite a buzz. Her collaboration project
with Sharmaji “Break Your Heart” dropped on Soul Motive (UK) on December 15th,
Maggie's cover of “Can’t Believe It” with Fools Gold artist Sammy Bananas music has
been played regularly on the influential power 106 in LA, and her single with Prince Paul
“A Current Affair” went to 1 at College Radio.
The Siren Mixtape, crafted by Baltimore Club Godfather Scottie B, is a project that
brings all of these far-flung artists, genres and sounds together. She'll be performing
LIVE with her eclectic music family on Wednesday, January 14th, for her mixtape release
party.
So keep an eye on her, because this triple threat (songwriter, singer, and DJ) has more on
the way. Her EP with Curses! drops on Institubes January 12th 2009, and her record
with the innovative Savant Guard Records comes out later in the year.
