Maggie QS - born as Malgorzata Kus, comes from a small town Kamieniec Zabkowicki at west part of Poland, is a singer/songwriter with a wide range of credits. She participated extensively in large-scale theatrical productions in Poland such as Fats Waller's "Ain't Misbehavin'," as well as the Polish premiere productions of "Metro," "Grosic," and "Tyle Milosci." She is also an accomplished jazz vocalist, with a bachelor's degree in jazz vocal performance from the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. Since 1990, Maggie has played the violin, and in 1997, she graduated from her first music school. In 2001, she was the winner of a popular TV show on Polish channel TVP2 "Szansa na Sukces" (Chance for Success). From 2002–2003, Maggie wrote, directed, and produced her first musical, "Glosmy Milosc" (Let's Profess Love), with a cast of thirty. During that time, she also founded the young artist group "Studio VoTaKt" in which she taught dance and stage performance, and worked as a vocal coach. After leaving Poland in 2004 Maggie started intensively travel. She took a trip through Persian Gulf, Japan, Philippines and USA. A trip that had a huge impact on Maggie's present creativity, the way to see and understand the world, and where the first compositions were born. Since arriving in New York City in 2007, Maggie has worked on a diverse scope of music projects. She performed on Broadway with the song and dance group "Spotlight Group" and off Broadway in the shows "Victor Woo: The Average Asian American" and "BEATNIK CAFE" (a musical documenting the jazz of the Beat Generation with a cast of 10 including Sheila Jordan, Lillie Bryant Howard, and Chris Sullivan). She also performed at The New York International Fringe Festival. Maggie has been recording and working for several studios including "Planet2Planet" and Serpagorup and with many great artists such as Clarence Spady, Bill Sims, B. Darius, Jordan Battiste, Macy Gray, Judith Hill and Darion James. Finally, in 2010, Maggie put her first group together and started working on her album "The Colors I know". In 2011 Maggie was featured on another popular TV show on Polish channel TVP2 "The Voice of Poland" and taken into Kayah 's team.
"The Colors I Know" is Maggie's first original album. It flows between the genres of soul, jazz, funk and bossa. Her perception of music has never been just notes and chords but an opportunity for true self expression. "The Colors I Know" is essentially a story focusing on all kinds of relationships and those unbreakable connections we experience along our life journeys. We all see the world through a lens of colors we know and everyday we are introduced to new colors, perpetually changing the way we are and the way we see. The unique and diverse sounds of "The Colors I Know" adds even more colors to the spectrum.
