VINCENT: Siciliano, on Farrand & Votey parlor organ - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 26, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
George F. Vincent (1855-1928) was an English composer and organist. This Siciliano, for reed organ, was included in "The Organist's Friend & Companion," published in New York in 1890. The instrument is an 1889 Farrand & Votey parlor organ, built in Chicago, and recently restored by friends in San Francisco. Originally the black walnut case had a tall, elaborate, asymmetrical upper section. (And that's a Mason & Hamlin melodeon in the background.) Thanks to Niels in Belgium for sending me this music (he found it on www.rowy.net), and to George (the instrument's owner) for his hospitality and enthusiasm. Performed by Michael Hendron, recorded 25 July 2012.
