“Sometimes videos can be a literal interpretation of a song’s lyrics, and other times they can extend the meaning in a unique way. Given the impending disaster that is President Trump, I thought it would be both funny and poignant to suggest that Obama is the subject of the song.” - Kurt Swinghammer

Identified by jazz giant Kurt Elling as one of his favourite new vocalists, Lori Cullen’s upcoming album on True North Records is a fresh expression of jazz-infused chamber-pop.
The Juno-nominated vocalist delivers twelve new tunes with a pure, unaffected style that evokes the rich creativity of 60’s/70’s composers Paul Williams, Burt Bacharach, and Jimmy Webb. This is Lori’s seventh release and is a confident artistic statement inspired by the personal milestone of motherhood. Co-written specifically for her with Ron Sexsmith (lyrics) and Kurt Swinghammer (music), the orchestrated arrangements sparkle thanks to contributions from a dozen of Toronto’s finest musicians.
he animated video for Don’t Go Yet is comprised of over 1000 drawings by Kurt Swinghammer, who co-composed, arranged and played guitar on the track. It is a unique take on the lyric video concept where instead of a computer generated font, the words are entirely rendered by hand. Interspersed is a caricature of Barack Obama, who goes from confidently smiling and laughing to quietly shedding a tear, as the vocals plead “Don’t Go Yet”. A sentiment that sensible people all over the world are suddenly sharing.
