Recorded for a meagre $6,000, Creed's debut album "My Own Prison" was self-released by the band in 1997. The initial print run was limited to Florida, but the album proved so popular that it managed to sell over 6,000 copies in its first two months of release. These figures attracted major record labels, but the band and the suits had trouble coming to terms for a contract. Finally, the band settled down with Wind-Up Records (later purchased by Concord Bicycle Music in early 2015) and then proceeded to remix and partially re-record their debut album. The new version was also released in 1997 but on a much wider scale. This is the original version, the mix that songwriter and guitarist Mark Tremonti has said that he prefers. Hopefully Concord will reissue the album for its 20th anniversary and include both mixes.
