DESCRIPTION: Few people know what a Stage Manager has to "manage" behind the scenes to get and keep a show running. Here is a glimpse backstage during the opening number "Comedy Tonight" of Stephen Sondheim's "A Funny thing happened on the way to the Forum" in the higly acclaimed production at the Vienna Volksoper. Light cues are called via microphone (being visibly executed at the screen top left; command:"ab"), all other technical cues are operated with a single button at the bottom right, calling the next cue of the special software (control screen on the right side). It's all a´matter of being highly concentrated and focussed on the score and what is going on onstage (screen top right), as the cues have an immediate effect and there is no turning back once the trigger is pulled...and in this special case, there's lots of triggers...
