Piece of My Heart (Cover) Sung by Linda Mckenzie - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 27, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Linda Mckenzie sings Janice Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" live at the 2012 Wartrace Music Festival in Wartrace, TN. This footage was complimentary from an enthusiastic music fan, so pardon the overlay & the shakyness of the home-made footage.

"Piece of My Heart" was originally a romantic love song written
by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and initially recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. The song received greater mainstream attention
when "Big Brother and the Holding Company" (featuring Janis Joplin on lead vocals) covered the song in 1968, which resulted in a much bigger hit. The song has since been remade by several
singers, including hit versions by Faith Hill in 1994 and Melissa Etheridge in 2005. In 2004, the "Big Brother and the Holding"
Company version of this song was ranked Number 353 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is also included among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

Linda's Comment: After watching and listening to Janice
Joplin, I learned that it is "ok" to be completely honest when
singing, to let go with no holds barred, that this works when
the music comes from a place where you really mean it . . .
Thank you, Janice, for your soulful, honest and unabandoned
delivery of your musical messages; we all felt you.
