Sugar Bar All-Star Band is truly the ALL-STAR BAND. It is an excellent collection of the most talented and well-known musicians in the R& B music industry. The leader of the group is a legendary drummer & vocalist Bernard "Pocket" Davis who has recorded
more than 60 albums and toured with various R&B and Pop stars on major labels such as Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, Ashford & Simpson, Roy Ayers, Freddie Jackson and Japanese artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Akiko Yano and Juju. Bernard also is a DJ on Neworldglobalradio.com. After returning from Whitney Houston's last tour, the guitarist Sherrod Barnes has just finished a recording with Roberta Flack on her 2012 release and contributed his magical guitar play, voice and compositions to the album. The brilliant bassist and a musical director of many established artists, Tony Stevenson has worked with Force M.D.'s, Patti Austin, Reggie Hines, and the phenomenal and versatile keyboardist, Alec Shantzis recorded with Jody Whatley and Anita Baker just to name a few. The band hosts a famous open mic every Thursday at Sugar Bar in New York City,
the first-class R&B venue owned by one of the greatest songwriter duos in the history,
Ashford & Simpson. Various talents from all over the world visit Sugar Bar religiously on Thursday nights to experience what it is to create music with this super band, and as a result the Sugar Bar All Star Band's name has been recognized throughout the world. For
their own shows, the band features the sultry and imaginative vocals of a Japannative,
New York-based Jazz and R&B vocalist TAEKO who has appeared in major jazz festivals across the continents leading her own group.
