Leonard Evers: GOLD - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 10, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Based on the fairy tale "The Fisherman and his Wife", GOLD explores the fine line between justified desire and excessive greed. With a lot of humour and music, the story of the boy Jacob is told, who lives with his parents in deepest poverty by the sea. In their happy togetherness, however, they hardly notice the lack. Until Jacob catches a fish that promises to fulfil his every wish if he only throws it back into the sea. All the riches of the world come within reach. Only that, strangely enough, happiness disappears more and more in the process. GOLD is sung, narrated and played by Christina Sidak and the percussionist Lukas Böhm.

Premiere on 5 December 2014 in the Tischlerei of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Production: Annechien Koerselman; Stag and costume design: Dieuweke van Reij

With Christina Sidak and Lukas Böhm
