Stockholm Suite - by Leif Jordansson played by Migdal Strings - Video
PUBLISHED: May 09, 2017
DESCRIPTION: This suite for string quartet, electric guitar and soundscape is originally written in smaller parts for the theatre play "Doktor Glas" at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. Later I was asked by the ensemble to put it together as a suite for a festival with the theme Stockholm during the last 100 years. I was already from the beginning trying to compose something that would be a bridge between 1917 and 2017 so it was no problem to recompose the music for this suite. I also added one electric guitar (since that is my main instrument and I wanted a classical guitarist to work with different techniques meant for the electric guitar, such as e-bow, delay, tremolo and plectrum) and a soundscape built with sounds from Stockholm. In this film I've also added my own photos from walks and biking tours in Stockholm. Migdal Strings members this time are: Daniel Migdal - violin, Natalie Migdal - violin, Riika Repo - viola, Amalie Stalheim - cello, Jacob Kellerman - electric guitar and myself playing the soundscape. Since I'm originally a rock musician I made a suit in 10 parts which is the usual number of songs on a vinyl record from the 60's and 70's. Below is a list of the starting points for each part:
Part 1. 00:47 Part 2. 05:00 Part 3. 10:33 Part 4. 13:50 Part 5. 16:57 Part 6. 19:04 Part 7. 21:00 Part 8. 24:26 Part 9. 30:04 Part 10. 31:50
