It's Only Truth (if it's True to You, Too) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 05, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This is the first song I've ever written with spoons. It's also the first song I've ever written with drinking glasses. (Most of the songs I've ever written have been with eyeglasses, however.) I wanted to give an example of how you don't need a musical instrument to play music. Everything is musical, you just have to listen for it!

LYRICS:

I've got ways of telling the truth.
Pictures fade, but they still hold you.
I spend my days just holding the proof,
now it's too late to show it to you.
Hot on its trail, I dusted for clues.
Your smile stayed, a reflection of you.
It opened the gates so I followed through,
now I feel crazy for thinking about you.

It's only truth if it's true to you, too.
If it's not proof, then I have nothing to prove.

It brings me pain, validating my blues.
My smile faint in the absence of you.
I try new paint, but the color's a ruse;
I just can't unpaint the colors in you.
I've found new games to better my mood:
Bridges I make to get over you.
I can play them however I choose,
no matter the take, I always hear you.

It's only truth if it's truth to you, too.
If it's not proof, then I have nothing to prove.

Little changed, but your smile is new.
The price I'd pay to bring it back to you.
Your muscles strain, say, "You don't have to.
I'm more than OK," but I can't believe.
So, am I a still-frame, unable to move?
Or, am I the stage, just a floor without you?
Am I so vain to think you'd want me, too,
or am I insane still thinking I know you?

It's only truth if it's true to you, too.
If it's not proof, then I have nothing left to prove.
If it's not the same, there's nothing to say!
It's not my place (anymore)
but your heart is a space I adore!

I've got my ways of telling the truth.
The pictures have changed, but I still see the proof.
If I'm a stranger (now), I'll just smile at you,
maybe fumble a phrase and cause a smile or two
the way you used to.
