Leah was born in Holland, Michigan and raised in the great mid-western oasis of Madison, Wisconsin. Since birth she was exposed to wide range of live music from Dizzie Gilespie to Aretha Franklin. From 1994 to 1997, Leah was a featured soloist in an all-female a cappella group before moving to Paris to work as a blues and R&B vocalist for a popular nightclub. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1998, Leah moved to San Francisco and joined the world-famous Glide Memorial Church Ensemble (www.glide.org), where she is a featured soloist in the 100-person gospel choir. She has worked on stage and in the studio with many musical projects in the Bay Area including, Taj Mahal, Lydia Pense, Michael Franti (Spearhead), Martin Luther (The Roots), Dwayne Wiggins (Tony Toni Tone) and Tommy Castro.
Leah is currently finishing up her second studio album and is the lead vocalist of her own funk and soul band, Leah Tysse & The O.G.s (leahtysse.com) and Double Funk Crunch, a Funk and R&B party band (doublefunkcrunch.com). She also continues to do background vocals and studio work for a variety of artists in the Bay Area.
