DESCRIPTION:
Agbekor is a traditional war dance of the Ewe people, who live in the Volta Region of eastern Ghana and over the border in southern Togo. It has slow and fast sections, and the version being danced here is taught by the Agbeli family at the Dagbe Center in Kopeyia, Ghana.

Agbekor Drum and Dance Society is a group founded by Professor David Locke and currently directed by Emmanuel Attah Poku. They regularly perform in the New England area.

Recorded on Friday, Apr 1, 2016 in the Distler Performance Hall at Tufts University. Performances were part of the Akan Festival 2016 hosted by the Tufts University Department of Music.
