"All is Loneliness" is a short canon composed by Moondog, an eccentric blind composer who was often homeless by choice. Big Brother and the Holding Company created a unique cover version of this song, with Janis Joplin adding new verses and melodies. Since then, the tune has been covered by many other bands and artists, including Antony and the Johnsons, Motorpsycho, and Kono Michi.

This psychedelic jam picks up where Janis left off. . .

Special thanks to violinist Keats Dieffenbach (who introduced me to Moondog) and to her Ensemble ACJW co-conspirators Moran Katz, Margaret Dyer, and Caitlin Sullivan, all of whom first used this song in an interactive performance for teenagers. When we sing this song together, we have solidarity, support, and strength. . . even in the midst of our loneliness.
