Sister Sledge is an American musical group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1971, the group consisted of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge. Symbolizing strong family values, the siblings achieved international success at the height of the disco era.

The year 1979 saw the release of their breakthrough album We Are Family, which peaked at number three on the US Album Chart and went Platinum. The album included the 1979 single "We Are Family" which reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned them a Grammy Award nomination, together with two other 1979 top 20 international hits "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "Lost in Music".

Their other US hits include a 1982 cover of "My Guy", and other international hits include "Mama Never Told Me" (1975), "Thinking of You" (1984), before reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart with the song "Frankie" in 1985. Remixed versions of three of their singles in 1993 returned them to the UK Top 20.

Following Kathy's departure in 1989, the group then operated as a trio (with Kathy occasionally re-joining for one-off performances and several releases in the 1990s) until Joni's death in 2017. In 2015, Sister Sledge performed for Pope Francis at the World Festival of Families in Philadelphia.

Joni Sledge (September 13, 1956 – March 10, 2017) was a singer in the American family group Sister Sledge.

She was also a songwriter and producer, writing "Brother, Brother Stop" in 1996 for a Sister Sledge greatest hits album. Her production of their album African Eyes (1997) was nominated for a best-production Grammy. Sledge was found dead by a friend, of unknown causes, at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, aged 60.

We're lost in music

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music

We're lost in music
Feel so alive
I quit my 9 to 5
We're lost in music

Have you ever seen
Some people lose everything
First to go is their mind. huh
Responsibility
To me is a tragedy
I'll get a job some other time, uh-huh

I want to join a band
And play in front of crazy fans
Yes, I call that temptation
Give me the melody
That's all that I ever need
The music is my salvation

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music

We're lost in music
Feel so alive
I quit my 9 to 5
We're lost in music

Mmm, hmm, in the spotlight
The band plays so very tight
Each and every night, uh-huh
It's not vanity
To me, it's my sanity
I could never survive

Some people ask me
What are you gonna be
Why don't you go get a job, uh-uh
All that I could say
I won't give up my music
Not me, not now, no way, no how, oh... oh...

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap (Caught up in our music)
No turnin' back (Ooh... ooh... ooh...)
We're lost in music

We're lost in music (Don't take our away our music)
Feel so alive (Feel)
I quit (I quit) my 9 to 5 (Yeah)
We're lost in music

We're lost in music (Melody is good to me)
Caught in a trap (I'm caught up in it)
No turnin' back (No, no, no)
We're lost in music (Ooh... doo doo doo doo doo doo)

We're lost in music (La da da da da da da da, mmm... hmm...)
Feel so alive
I quit (I quit) my 9 to 5
We're lost in music (Lost in music)

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music

We're lost in music
Feel so alive
I quit my 9 to 5
We're lost in music

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music
