LaRissa Dodson aka Lady Lavish is a female rapper representing her city; Naptown. Lavish is a combination of sass, sexiness, and a hint of gangsta. Although the only female in a camp of hardcore male rappers she handles herself very well. Lavish raps about real life situations from a womans point of view. Lavish is a multi-talented diva adding dancing and modeling experience to her package making her a triple threat.
Lavish began rapping 4 years ago. What started off as an after-work play session with girlfriends escalated to a hidden talent of song writing. Lavish writes her own lyrics based off scenarios women can relate to, herself included. Lavish then took it a step further and met with Sir Hart who produced her first single F.A.N.s. Word got around of this new female rapper on the scene and the opportunity presented itself when she was asked to perform at a local club called The Guvernment. She performed F.A.N.s and the promoter was impressed with what he saw. Within weeks she was added to another show this being The First Ladies of Naptown rap showcase. This performance set her apart from the others because even though her first single F.A.N.s is a male bashing song she still captivated the audience, the majority being men, with her explosive stage performance and unique style. She also performed her second song I Dont Understand as well and heard no complaints. After that breakthrough Lavish was then added to other rosters with other local top notch rappers such as Yellaboy, Lil Nut, and Hardtimes to name a few. Lavish has performed at numerous clubs throughout the city such as Don Victors, Club Phoenix, Club Escalade, The Patio, Beauty N Da Beats at Savoy, Hey Chas, Game Works @ Circle Center Mall, and the V.I.P. lounge.
Lady Lavish has since recorded hit singles such as Who Dat, which features one of the hottest male rappers in the city Yellaboy, Shake It, which features Cold-Hearted, a female Naptown representa, Im Convinced and Go. Two of these tracks Shake It and Im Convinced have been played on the radio and have been in heavy rotation. And did I forget to mention Lady Lavish is the 1st female rapper out of Naptown to be on the radio. DJ Rusty, of 96.3, showed love first to this new chick on the block, so needless to say shes earned a title. Lady Lavish also along with Cold-Hearted, Miss Stress, and Ducksauce aka Duckie, joined together as Gangstress Inc. Gangstress Inc., an affiliation of solo female rappers, made a lot of noise throughout the city as they represented how the game should be handled and maintained from a womans prospective. The ladies performed together at a variety of clubs in Naptown and even took their talent to Club Escalade, in the city of Gary. The ladies all collabed on a track called Tear It Up which really let the fellas know that these ladies meant business. The ladies of Gangstress Inc. worked together and supported each others talent and drive to put Naptown on the map with the mentality that they couldnt be denied in numbers. Lady Lavish has since cut ties with the ladies to pursue her solo project becoming the 1st lady of Black Indiana. Black Indiana consists of the tightest rappers in the city Yellaboy, Rain-Man, Hardtimes, and Midknight. Black Indiana is a combination of fierce lyricists. Everyone apart of this click brings a unique style to the table. Although Lavish has the model look, don't get it twisted, she's explosive with the lyrics and shes from the hood. Some of the current industry heavy hitter's she has opened up for include: Twista, Yung Joc, Eightball & MJG, and Young Jezzy.
Lady Lavish is now ready to take it to the next level combining her rap skills with her dancing skills to create the ultimate package; a performer. She's currently working on completing her album but has released a sneak peak cd, A Little Taste, of the hit singles everyone cant get enough of. Lavish, who is also a model, stays busy with fashion shows and photo shoots but by choice her music is her main concern at the moment. Lavish has further future aspirations she may want to get into such as acting, continuing her modeling, and possibly producing. But for right now shes out to let the world know who Lavish is and what shes all about. Shes definitely more than a pretty face and lyrically she'll let you know it.
